About This Venue

The Library Theatre was Sheffield's intimate performance venue located in Tudor Square, operating from 1969 to 2009. With 308 seats arranged in a flexible configuration, it hosted professional touring productions, local theatre companies, and community performances. The venue was known for its close audience-performer relationship and diverse programming. Located in Sheffield's cultural quarter, it was adjacent to the Central Library and close to the city's main shopping and business districts. The theatre closed permanently in 2009 due to structural issues and was subsequently demolished.
